Sponsored Silence in June 2019
Daniel from Watson Moore has registered to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) by taking part in ‘Silence Speaks’ and will be remaining silent for an entire 24 hours!
That’s right, on Thursday 27th June 2019 as the clock strikes 12 midday Daniel will stop speaking (a relief to some!) and remain silent for 24 hours, until midday the following day.
“I’m raising money for MNDA as it is a cause that is close to my heart. I have first-hand experience in just how difficult and upsetting it is when a loved one suffers from MND. My grandmother was diagnosed in 2014 and sadly passed away the following year,” explains
Daniel, “there is no cure for Motor Neurone Disease and so the MNDA help support those who suffer from the disease, as well as the families and loved ones of sufferers. MNDA also fund research in the hopes of one day finding a cure”.
When asked how he will face the challenge of getting his work done when not being able to speak, Dan said “It is going to be difficult. But that is the idea. Often the voice is one of the first things to go when someone suffers from MND. My grandmother had to come up with creative ways of communicating with people, using paper and a pen, whiteboards and an app on her tablet. If she could manage, knowing she would never get her voice back, I am sure I can manage it for 24 hours”.
